FFI now an affiliate of the Wilderness Medical Society!

The Flagstaff Field Institute is now an affiliate of the Wilderness Medical Society! Founded in 1983, WMS fosters education and research in wilderness medicine, publishes the Wilderness and Environmental Medicine peer-reviewed journal, sponsors multiple conferences, and maintains clinical practice guidelines for wilderness medicine practitioners and educators. As an affiliate of WMS, the Flagstaff Field Institute is commited to providing training that meets the rigorous standards established by the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative.

All FFI courses are offered in conjunction with NOLS. Through WMS, CMEs are available for participation in the Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals (WUMP) course, and EMTs and paramedics may earn continuing education hours and Wilderness EMT certifications through participation in the WUMP, Wilderness First Responder, or Hybrid Wilderness First Responder courses.
