The NOLS Wilderness Medicine Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training program is a nationally recognized program that trains participants to respond to emergencies in remote settings. This three-day scenario-based Wilderness First Responder Recertification (WFR Recert) course is designed as review and practice of evacuation and decision-making guidelines. Topics include patient assessment, wound management, realigning fractures and dislocations, improvised splinting, and environmental emergencies. Students receive current updates in the wilderness medicine field that are critical to the proper assessment and treatment of injuries and illnesses. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a two-year NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification and a two-year NOLS Wilderness Medicine adult and child CPR certification. Wilderness EMTs (WEMTs) may also use this course to re-certify (wilderness portion only).
