Updated vaccination policy from NOLS!

NOLS has updated the vaccination policy.  Here's the latest:

To ensure the safety of students and faculty amid rising case counts nationwide NOLS Wilderness Medicine has made the decision to require that all students be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 starting in November.

Vaccines reduce the likelihood of contracting COVID-19 and dramatically reduce the severity and length of disease in the event of a “breakthrough” infection. This decision is grounded in our commitment to our shared values of education, leadership, safety, and community.

Compliance will be on the following timeline:

If Your Course Starts November 1 - November 11, 2021

You must have received your final vaccine dose prior to your arrival at the course. If you have not completed your two-week waiting period after receiving your final dose, you must submit a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the course start.

If Your Course Starts On or After November 12, 2021

You must be two weeks or more past receiving your final vaccine dose prior to arrival at your course.

Wilderness Medicine instructors will review student vaccination cards at the start of the course.  Please be sure to bring your vaccination card with you to your course.

Please see our COVID-19 practices, disclosure, and video for more information.

We are adopting this policy to prioritize the health of our students, employees, and NOLS communities, and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

More updates to the NOLS COVID strategies!

NOLS continues to work diligently to incorporate the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) into our wilderness medicine courses.  Students in longer courses (WFR/WUMP) can now bring proof of vaccination in lieu of testing, and masking requirements continue to change.  Click here for more information!

New COVID testing policy for WFR and WUMP courses

Over the past year, NOLS developed a task force to consult with physician advisors and infectious disease experts, monitor local/state mandates, and review recommendations from the CDC, and NOLS and FFI have implemented a variety of strategies to mitigate the risks in our courses. As part of this process, NOLS has recently implemented a new COVID testing policy for WFR and WUMP courses. Click here for more information and contact the office with any questions. Stay safe!
