Wilderness First Aid - Flagstaff Field Institute

When emergencies happen miles from help, confidence and preparation can make all the difference. The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is an immersive, hands-on experience designed for trip leaders, camp staff, outdoor adventurers, and anyone who spends time in remote environments.

Through dynamic instruction, practical demonstrations, and realistic rescue scenarios, you’ll learn how to assess and care for people who become ill or injured far from definitive medical care. Working with mock patients and challenging situations, you’ll put your skills to the test and gain experience making critical decisions under pressure.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to respond effectively when it matters most — helping you keep yourself and others safe in the outdoors.

This course may also be used to recertify NOLS Wilderness Medicine Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and NOLS Wilderness Medicine WEMT (wilderness portion only) certifications.  The NOLS Wilderness First Aid course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid requirement.
